Here is where we'll
announce our latest published works, new site
content, and various goings-on.
16-18 November 2005: Glen and Karen just
returned from the National
Writing Project Annual Meeting in
Pittsburgh, where we picked up new ideas for
integrating writing with technology. One of the
ideas we've incorporated into this website. See
our Writing
Prompts
page for the link and the password to our
new Writing Prompts Wiki!
Karen will be working from December 2005 through
April 2006 on a series of five short books on the
human body, written at the middle school level for
a school and library publisher. More information as
these books near publication.
Throughout October and November, Glen and Karen
will be hard at work on two new books on military
vehicles for a school and library publisher. More
information to come when the books near
publication.
The September issue of Dig
magazine just arrived. This issue is all about peat
bog mummies. Karen's craft article on making a
bookmark using card weaving appears on page 30.
20 September 2005: We just added a page
for Writing
Prompt Generators. You can have a ton of
fun clicking buttons to create random writing
prompts.
The September issue of Appleseeds
magazine is out, with the theme of "Kids
Can Change the World." Inside you'll find Karen's
latest article, "Got a Problem? Get a Plan!"
19 September 2005: We've just opened up a
discussion board on writing for children! We're
still working on the decor, but come on in anyway:
The
Sandbox.
14 September 2005: New stuff in our
For
Teachers section! We're adding
educational material to accompany our books. So far
we've put in more crafts to go with two of Karen's
craft books. Soon we'll add curriculum guides to
several of our books.
5 August 2005: Good
news! We have our website up! We hope everyone will
find this useful and informative, and will keep
coming back for more.
August 2005: Glen
and Karen took part in a National Writing Project
writing retreat on writing about technology and
writing, held at Leid Lodge by Arbor Day Farms in
Nebraska. Glen was an official facilitator, and
Karen was along for the food and to help out as
needed.
Karen's book, Chinese
New Year Crafts (Enslow) was recently released.
Glen and Karen are also working on two new projects
for Enslow, via a book packager. More on this
project as the books near the production
phase.
