Institute of Children's
Literature
You've probably seen their flyers in grocery
stores or ads in magazines offering a writing
test. The ICL is a legitimate school for
writers, offering correspondence courses for
beginning and advanced students. Their website
has many good resources and articles for
writers.
The
National Writing Project
"Teachers Teaching Teachers." NWP is an
organization for all teachers, dedicated to
helping teachers become better writers so that
they can pass on their love of writing and
writing experiences to their students. There are
local projects in every state in the
U.S.
Society
of Children's Writers and
Illustrators
One of the most respected organizations for
children's writers. SCBWI holds an annual
conference, and local chapters often have their
own retreats and conferences. Extensive message
boards, monthly writing and illustrating
contests.
